In NYC the crazies play it up for YOU. You. They sit across from you on the subway with their carefully selected outfits and they strike their carefully selected poses and they're looking for YOUR reaction. Now this is my kind of crazy. I adore this. Because it makes human sense.
But in LA... The crazies are NOT playing it up for you. No no no. They are playing it up for the invisible studio audience. They are trying impress and interact with an applauding crowd of people who do not actually exist. I've seen this display from so-called "ordinary" people and it scares the hell out of me.
Also... In NYC everything is a gritty black and white architectural photograph and stock market news comes over 1950's radio. But in LA all the clothes are in glossy saturated color and celebrity red carpet apologies are piped in through TV.
