I still use a 6 year-old G4 powerbook, though the battery is essentially useless nowadays. Would you get as long a life out of your Sony?
You are also overspec'd in some regards, half of the Sony/Apple prioce difference is RAM upgrade, about another half is the top spec CPU. Apple RAM is very expensive, cheaper to buy with 4Gb and replace it with 8Gb from Crucial for less than the Apple upgrade. Also in benchmarks there is bugger all difference between the lowest and highest end CPUs http://www.notebookcheck.net/Rev…
