Here's how I see it, no matter what happens in the fall, it will pretty much be the end of Congress getting big things done.

Because Republicans have shown themselves completely unwilling to compromise on anything. So if Democrats lose even a few seats in the Senate, they won't be able to pass anything.

But this cuts both ways. There's just no way Republicans are going to be able to win enough seats to have their own filibuster proof majority in this election cycle. Come to think of it, it's doubtful they'll be able to achieve it in 2012 or 2016 either!

Republicans have set the bar for passing anything incredibly high. So what you'll get is pretty much the status quo. The stimulus and health care reform and other Obama initiatives will stay in place, and the Obama administration will have free reign to issue executive orders, conduct foreign policy, and regulate through EPA, FTC, etc. Republicans will kick and scream a lot but won't be able to get anything done even if they retake Congress.

    • A few seats you say???Oh no Sir, the Dems are going to get CRUSHED.MyMommies
    • You need 2/3 of Congress to overcome a veto, good luck!ukit
