'And Adobe wants to instantly jump in and become the de facto gatekeeper for Apple's mobile device software.'
What the hell are you talking about? They (Adobe) were just offering a feature to AS devs so they can port their app to iPhone. Apple said no to AS when they built iPhone, iTouch, iPad, so Adobe took some initiative and developed an automated feature that converts AS to an Apple acceptable format.. until Apple changed their format fucking four days before Adobe launched the feature.
Maybe it would have been nice if Apple told Adobe 'no' a fucking year ago when they announced they were developing this feature. I'm sure you'd love it if you designed a brochure for a company and at the last minute they said 'Sorry, we're going to do it inhouse' never to be heard from again. I'm sure you'd have an altruistic and positive view of them for wanting to retain their brand identity by doing the project from within, nevermind that you just got fucked.
Of course it's Apples call how they want the apps built that they sell in their own store, to be used on their own devices - but don't you think that they're being greedy, snotty little cunts when they pull this shit 4 days before Adobe rolls out a product. It's bullshit pure and simple.
