After reading a few (less angry) run downs on this, I think y'all are being too hard on Apple here. Yes they are dicks in doing it this way but it's pretty silly to think Adobe was building this "export to iPhone/Pad" feature with altruistic intentions.
Let's give Apple some credit after all, they are the one company that has put billions into designing and building next generation machines and UIs that set the bar for the whole industry. And Adobe wants to instantly jump in and become the de facto gatekeeper for Apple's mobile device software.
Of course Apple has the right to say no. From Apple's point of view it's a no brainer - they retain control of their software development, and don't really lose anything at all in the short term. I get the sense Apple doesn't really give a fuck about bringing tens of thousands of new apps on board. If it turns out to be the wrong decision, then Adobe will be even better positioned in the long term, since they will be able to develop better relationships with Apple's rivals.
