John, read the piece above. Sure, it opts poor people out of paying taxes entirely, in fact they would get an even bigger check from the federal government than they do now. It would be a boon for rich people who would save millions.
Now ask yourself, how do you come up with enough money to be revenue neutral if that's the case? The "underground economy" won't make up the difference. Sure you can tax prostitutes an extra 20% when they buy condoms, but it's not like you can tax the actual prostitution.
The answer is that the vast majority of people, who already pay taxes, will end up paying more. Including you, if you make less than 200k.
