Hey Remixt, dan5382, your PDF actually CAN be saved in Reader. You don't need any "weird specialist database work" on your end, you just have to "Advanced > Extend Features in Adobe Reader," which is an obscure function in Pro.
The reason I'm still arguing is two-fold: 1) I'm trying to help, and 2) I've done this before, successfully. I can show you an example if you like.
