so... some time passes. will retires to be with his family. the aliens come back with more advanced ships and weaponry. cops beg him to return and ultimately use "do it for your family" to convince him to return and fight the aliens. he reluctantly agrees. big emergency evacuations etc like before, big battle, will's kid doesn't listen to him and hide/stay at home like he says, but sneaks along to go with daddy. ends up on board a ship (stows away or is accidentally captured) that flies back to the alien planet. just when will thinks the whole battle is over, he discovers she's gone and has to go to the alien homeworld to retrieve her. crazy alien 3D homeworld shit happens that the studio hopes will be mentioned in the same breath as "avatar" and he barely makes it back home alive.
