    Places to eat
    Mudgies Deli (best damned sammiches in the city)
    Traffic Jam+Snug(finer dining)
    Union Street(lunch or dinner)
    Slows BBQ(lunch or dinner - must try Apple BBQ sauce)

    Places to drink:
    Motor City Brewery (ghettoblaster is a must, although I also recommend any of their seasonal brews - oh and don't forget to eat a pizza ;)
    Detroit Beer Co. (great beer)
    The Bronx Bar (best dive bar in Detroit)
    The Old Shillelagh (irish pub)

    Art + Culture:
    Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA)
    Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD)
    Detroit Artists Market (DAM)

    Sports/Liesure:
    Catch a wings game at Joe Louis Arena or a Tigers game at Comerica.

    Oh and.. Fuck the people mover. Only get on that POS if you have to. Should probably have your mode of transportation squared away as well (ie: rental or friend). The bus system is fucking absurd and the people mover is a joke.

    I'm sure some other people can add to the list but those are a few of my favorite locales.

    • Those are all located downtown BTW - if you get outside of the immediate downtown area there are lots of things to do in the burbsd_rek
