  Sony laptops in my experience are pretty solid.

  Ive got a Rock laptop - high performance laptops, with additional hardware for gaming, uk only i think. http://www.rockdirect.com/

  i like the macbook build, but i would put windows on it, not a fan of mac OS. Aim for an i7 cpu laptop + 4gb RAM, that would be sweet.
