go with the kickass guy. brundlefly's example is an exception to the rule I think. most people with kickass fictional work will be eager to make the best out of a real world assignment and take the deadlines and revisions for granted. works for me.
also, they know you're hiring them because they're kickass, which is a very very good thing - takes you halfway there.
