It's both of course, there are probably very specific winners and losers but clearly the industry wasn't 100% against the bill. I think Rahm Emmanuel and some of the others from the Clinton era realized that if they tried to jam a bill down the industry's throat without working with them they would likely be crushed by negative ads and opinion money.
But guess what, maybe they were right. We've now just passed, for the first time, a form of universal health care in America, albeit working within the free market system.
