Political betting sites like Intrade are actually a pretty good way to cut through the bullshit out there in the media. Rush Limbaugh or Keith Olbermann will probably say whatever they think their audience wants to hear. But if people are willing to risk their money over the likelihood of something happening (or not), you gotta think they've done the research on it and really believe it. Who gives a shit about Democrat vs Republican when you've got 10 grand on the line?
So it's interesting that after dropping off a huge amount earlier in the year, the betting contract they have called "Health Care Reform - Will 'Obamacare' health care reform become law before midnight ET 30 Jun 2010?" is now suddenly trading at 80%.
