I meditate as part of my karate training... it's very helpful.
While competing I can sometimes focus to a point where I literally cannot hear anything outside the ring. There have been one or two occasions in my life – before I started karate – where I have been attacked and the adrenalin rush has been enough to seemingly slow the passage of time. It's as if a switch is flicked and suddenly life looks like a 1000 or 2000 frame per second slomo.
I should incorporate meditation into more of my life, but I'm still learning to get the most out of it. I'm finding that the less rested I am the harder it gets to concentrate to the level necessary.
