Biofreak, I'm a "white southern US citizen" who is not remotely ok with Lott. And I'd say there are quite a few of us - probably more today than last week. Race is still an issue here, but no more than anywhere else. We just aren't well represented but that will change at least a little pretty soon.
InVivio, I agree with you. While this sort of comment is bad regardless of party, when it's the Senate Majority Leader, the party should take notice and respond.
