So I received a letter from an attorney today proposing that I return the deposit, not post the work on my website, and provide written assurance that I will not use their work for any other commercial purpose.
This doesn't sit well with me - I work for 6 months producing a sitemap, wireframes, 3 design comps, then a working (jpeg/imagemap) website and they expect me to return all monies and pretend nothing ever happened? Looking at the clients current website I cannot find an update later than May of 2009 (current site is blog style) and the letter claims "the client has lost a season's worth of holiday business and incurred substantial internal costs in trying to see this project through.
Going through the emails I have evidence that it took the client 3 months to finalize the sitemap after they approve a design direction and I provide a working comp. Ugh, need to sleep, will consult an attorney in the morning I suppose. Happy effen Monday!
