I've been a big fan since Good Morning Spider. I'm not sure how depressed he was before that and this...
In 1996, while supporting Radiohead on the first Sparklehorse tour, Linkous overdosed on alcohol, Valium and antidepressants and possibly other substances in his London hotel room [1]. He was unconscious, with his legs pinned beneath him, for almost fourteen hours; the resulting potassium buildup caused his heart to stop for several minutes after his body was lifted up. He was treated at St Mary's Hospital, London. Subsequent surgeries saved both legs but left him wheelchair-bound for six months.
but that certainly didn't help.
I hope those record execs that delayed his colab with Danger Mouse for over a year feel like shit. This could be his most successful release. I know money and fame isn't the cure of depression but might have helped.

I'm glad I got the chance to listen to his music and see him preform it live once.- Doubt Dark Night of the Soul had anything to do with / would have helped his depression... rarely does.ismith
