Well I have to say it was one of the most terrifying things that I've every experienced. I was completely freaked and as I've said the results are good at the moment (though not perfect) but it is early days I would certainly not want to go through it again. People I spoke to has said it was no more troubling than going to the dentist. But I found it way worse than that. No pain, but lots of trauma. Having your vision removed is so scary, the sense in which you have no control as your eye is clamped completely did my head in.
I can now see across the room - so that is an amazing thing in itself having not been able to see without specs for so many years. But I'd like to get my close vision a little better. I'm only three days post surgery so by all accounts a lot can change.
I found that glasses and contact lenses were becoming a real pain. I don't mind if I need glasses for close up work though - I could live with that!
