Speaking of Romney/ Mormonism BTW, I was in Salt Lake City recently and stopped by the Temple Square (historical site and the global headquarters of the religion) just to see what the whole deal was.
That is some pretty crazy shit there. Aside from the temple itself, they have a museum with these life-size models set up showing the history of the world as they understand it with touch screen information displays. Mormons don't skimp on the technology.
One aspect of it that I was not aware of is that the religion is actually named after a "historical figure," Mormon, who they believe was some kind of Native American prophet. According to them Jesus visited America before his death and started the movement with people like him. They had a statue of this guy set up, in a cave with weird stone tablets, looking a little like a Mayan priest a la Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom but with Caucasian features, blond hair, blue eyes etc.
At the end of the tour they have a huge planetarium-type room which features a 50 foot tall ivory statue of Jesus suspended from the ceiling in front of a painting of the universe.
