/\ There are few topics being discussed. Design in general, measuring fame and the unanimous decision.
Since we are talking Graphic Design, we can forget about the broad spectrum of 'design' for this topic.
Now measuring fame has a variety of different measurements that can placed on a specific individual. There are no rules and each individual is unique, based on prior experience and exposure. These exposures to "communication" can be drawn out in numerous ways. Print, web, broadcast, radio, word-of-mouth, etc...
However it is quite POSSIBLE to get ONE single person from the results of a vote. A(n) unanimously result could occur, however due to the number of choices, the odds are slim. We could narrow the choices down to a few select. But we're not trying to make an immediate and ultimate conclusion here. You can formulate your own speculations that are more than subjective or not.
In this case, a person's work could reflect his or her walk towards fame and so far Paul Rand is on top (2/17/2010) 8:15pm. However his death could have easily attributed to his glory. Many great legends achieved their fame, after death. For example Van Gogh who died poor, yet his paintings are worth millions today. However in my opinion, Rand's fame could be easily attributed to the fact that his logos are strongly branded in today's corporate and consumer culture. From large corps like IBM to UPS.
However in conclusion, there maybe no ONE aspect that attributes to the measurement of fame, but rather an eco-system that work together to form the basis of fame. Point systems are still pointless because they do not accurately measure the true nature of the sport and many issues can derive in trying to measure anything. Even the measurement of one's weight varies depending on gravity.
