whats a scallop?
- see how the wood is filed out between the frets in the pic above? that's scallopingismith
- bends are easier and such but so is pressing out of tune. it also has a distinct sound when you've gotten used to playing itismith
- some, steve vai for example, only scallop the top (21-24) frets so they can get the high bends easierismith
- but unless your a blackmore or malmsteen freak, probably want to steer clear while you're a beginner.ismith
