    if you're going the PC way

    Pentrium Core i7 920
    Gigabyte X58 UD5 or UD4P
    6 gigs of ram (Kingmax or better yet Corsair)
    1 or 2 - 1 Terrabyte WD Caviar Black hard drives (fast - you'll apreciate them in graphics programs)
    Video card right now go for ATI 5xxx series ( Don't be fooled into thinking you need more then 512-1gb of ram on the video card... 1gb is fine) - if you want nvidia .. go for GTX 260

    this configuration i found to be very very stable and very fast

    the 27 INCH DELL U 2711 (it's the same panel as the Apple Cinema Display at 60% the cost and has a better backlight)
