So true. NPR said today that more Americans are joining the American Civil Liberties Union, precisely because of the climate in this country today. But if you notice, every party takes over in a cyclical fashion. When Clinton came in after the first Bush, things went pretty well, or better compared to now. The internet, tech, foreign policy and environmental accords (Kyoto) was sound, civil liberties weren't as threatenend. Yeah, we're paying for it now. But I'm thinking the Republicans will be on their way out. It was only last year a Republican went to the Democrats and that senator cited that the current administration is out of touch. We'll just have to see how out of touch. Something to consider is there is a burgeoning population of second generation "immigrant" Americans who are educated, like me, and they tend to be Democratic. Democratic across the board in California, reflected by our senators, Mayors. Republicans can't touch California, I know that much.
