    let's put it like this. adobe/macromedia have spent years working on flash os/browser integration and have substantial market penetration. their product has an extensive api which will probably grow to meet the demanding needs of game development and this is no small task. have you ever done any OpenGL programming? DirectX? It's going to take a competing technology a long time not just to develop a formidable alternative, but also a lot of time and money marketing the technology just to get where Adobe is today. And by the time they do, Adobe, who will have been watching their competition closely along the way, will be further along with their own answer to those competitors.
