i am really making a noticable change in my understanding of 3D design. subdivisional modeling is insane!! i have concepted 347 different parts for my new mecha on paper, but getting it to 3D on theputer is taking its toll on me.. roughing around 16 hours a day into this demo as i have only 19 days left b4 it expires... i want to master at least 1 of my 2D mechs into a fully realized 3D render... hopefully i can finish as i want to use this image for my NTPE5 submission..

2010 for me already has been the most insane amount of creativity i ever had and my goals are so much stronger than ever.

i hope everyone else is getting this same vibe and energy towards their own goals and work ethics.

i never felt like i kicked so much creativity ass b4 ever it is a very nice feeling after a year of nothing and pain.

    :)

    • dude sounds great, hope you finish in time && can't wait to see it :D I'm still wrapping my head around 3D...ismith
    • how long is "still" ive only been doing it since jan 3rd 2010.e-pill
    • my 2010 is starting off rough as per the above but this makes me optimistic. I WILL CRUSH THIS YEAR with creativity :Dismith
    • idk, long time. my dad and I use macperspective, so I'm alright in CAD but shitty with everything elseismith
    • looks like: http://www.clarksmit… or http://www.clarksmit…
all geometry, not "modelling" the same way the new programs do it

    • wow in 1991 when i first started college i did interior design by hand...e-pill
    • ..my hand sketches look a lot like that, we had to create narrow rooms with ranging..e-pill
    • objects of 15, then 25 then 33 then on and on.. same size room but more objects.e-pill
    • back then i learned about the Z axis but it was on a 2D environment.e-pill
    • is still have them sketches, they are on 36x42 newprint pads all yellowed from age..e-pill
    • back then we didnt have computers so much and the internet i think was just made.e-pill
    • i remember when i first heard of CAD software and where i was in college and jealously..e-pill
    • i remember PRATT and SVA had a CAD design program when no other college did..e-pill
    • offcourse there were cooper union and every other great place in nyc... but the CADs..e-pill
    • i missed out on that boat til i got in the field and had to learn as i went...e-pill
    • i didnt learn illustrator til 2001. b4 that time i was 100% not digital.e-pill
    • hopefully 2010 gives me the time to really learn this as i am late for it.e-pill
    • i really like the direction i am going and the progress i am making. it feels good!!e-pill
    • yeah I do mostly by hand but can't afford a scanner so am trying to move into digital more...ismith
    • macperspective was for like... mac os 5 or some shizz. there's a z-axis but the pogram is 2Dismith
    • I like cooper arch because they have an emphasis on doing it all by handismith
    • or at least not relying on software.. I find drafting really fun but I'll learn it on the comp eventuallyismith
    • e-pill. if you love 3D so much but can't afford to pay, get Blender. its free and does everything. for real. check it out.twokids
    • i checked out blender and really didnt like it. i love modo that i am using.e-pill
    • blender seems too sculpting and painterly over just straight subdivision modeling.e-pill
    • thanks for the advice though. much appreciated. next step after modo for me is maya.e-pill
    • i have a goal to master modo by end of month and master 3D in general by end of year.e-pill
