no, he put some amazing ideas out there but also been proven quite incorrect on some stuff. there's some great docos out there about him which detail how much he's done for science and a lot of it is really making stuff understandable and postulating some big ideas which uber-science-nerds then get to proving or disproving.
he's to science what jamie oliver is to the culinary world. pretty great but not in the top tier of amazing talents of their field.
put it this way, for all the hadron collider media, can you name the lead scientists on the theory of that project? no. cause they aint as fun as the wheeelman.
