All the naysayers and plasma haters... ever actually owned one or just giving your opinion by repeating others? I bought my first plasma in 2004, a 42" Panasonic Viera and it still looks better than some current models. I've gamed (PS2 then Xbox 360), watched letter-boxed movies etc, no burn in. And back then there weren't as many built-in protections. I've since bought a 50" Viera and the quality for watching BluRay movies is fantastic and gaming is still better, not having to worry about compensating for lag (though I think many LCDs have gotten past this). The new LCDs are very close, but there is no better black level and flesh tones than on plasma to date IMO.
I've got 2 higher end 32" LCDs in bedrooms, a Sony and a Samsung and they are great, but the image just doesn't seem quite as natural as plasma can create.
And whoever said "the cheaper technologies have won out" maybe you should compare a good 42" plasma to a comparable LCD. The plasmas are typically cheaper now.
My two cents. I didn't want to sound like a fan boy, but I always hear plasma take shit from people, then 99% of the time when I ask if they ever owned one, they say no.
- Yeah, I am not sure why people hate either. The reviews I've read put Plasma on top, image quality wiseformed
- I've got a Sony LCD and it sucks, ghosting/motion is bad. It is a few years old, thoughformed
- But you didnt go the cheap route. that is why plasmas are cheaper is because problems and life expectancy.********
- Fred, your comment makes no sense to me. Reword it?ETM
