I haven't played much of my hip hop in quite a while and thought I'd grab a stack of records featuring artists that to me defined good hip hop from the last decade. A few problems arose after looking up some of the release dates, some tracks here are from '97 - '99 and some much older, but they're records I acquired in 2000 + so yeah... lots of artists omitted, even ones that were heavy on my rotation, but hey, I think the sound I personally was into is captured aptly..as usual, I like to preempt my mixes with the disclaimer that I'm not very good, so don't expect scratching and beat-juggling...
- I'll accept nothing less than underwater blindfolded beat juggling on five turntables...ukit
- probably fair to mention that I also more-or-less stopped buying hip hop in '06–'07
