    @detritus: simple.

    1. more CO2 = more energy trapped within earth's ecosystem = more aggressive climate = harsher winters and harsher summers with shorter transitions.
    2. warmer climate = more evaporation from the ground/oceans = more moisture in the air = more precipitations.

    So the dry places like deserts get dried up faster/stronger and "wet" places like the winward side of the rockies get more water.
