Hey, get a different external hard drive. Lacie 1Tb are bad for dying... at least the power cords are. Mine just quit, won't mount and just spins. Done some reading tho and it seems the power cords fail before the drives do so I'm hoping (and praying) I can't get a new cord and everything will be fine.
Good thing I put all my work on that one drive. And good thing it's most of my old graphic work. Not my music. Not my samples or family pictures. It's just old work... I don't need it... unless, wait, I need to make a portfolio... DAMMIT.
Multiple backups is really good advice.
