I think there is a clear line between helping someone out - being contrsuctive and offering advice - and just belligerantly slating someone's work....
It's that fine line that need not be crossed.
i.e. Nothing nice or helpful to say - don't say it.
It's really just as simple as that.
And if someone is pissing you off on a thread - then let them be the dick - be the better person by making your clear, succinct point and then dropping it.
