STB,
I think you are wrong. First off all AMD Athlon 64 FX 51 and Dual G5 just had a test run in the latest PC magazine. I read similar tests in another Mac oriented magazine and FX51 wins. The FSB is faster it works at 1.6 Ghz in contrast to G5s 1Ghz and it has twice the L2 cache. Of course that's less then G5s 2Ghz for both, but that's not cruicial for performance since none of the components can sustain that speed. Second, FX51 is a 2.2Ghz CPU and Athlon 64 (his smaller brother) works at 2Ghz. There is a dual configuration for PC with Opteron CPUs which run at 1.8Ghz and one costs around 10 bucks less then a single FX51, so I would have to add another $800 for a second one, but G5s couldn't even compare to that machine. Third, as I mentioned 19" CRTs are much better then any LCD no matter Apple or not, and they are my personal favorites, but I also made a comparison with 173T Samsung kick-ass displays that are the same quality as Apple LCDs and even more you can rotate the display 180 degrees to watch a portrait pages or whatever. (http://www.uniquent.com/compari... Fourth, New ASUS boards come equipped with Firewire and USB 2.0 ports so these PCs have that as well and more (http://usa.asus.com/products/mb... If you want to actually totally compare, Ati All-in-Wonder card with 128 mb has more features with video then worse ATI card in Macs. Don't forget SATA RAID support that will blow away anything in RAID 0 mode.
Fifth, there's plenty software out there, but the ones we actually need are the same for both and we need to buy them. Don't forget free alternatives like Open Office and so on.
Sixth, Killer keyboard and killer speakers do not come with the Apple, just the regular keyboard and one button mouse. You have to buy proper speakers to get some quality, those small ones are just shitty. Logitech Cordless MX Duo is said to be the best keyboard and mouse in the world (radio wireless and they work amazing). True Apple has the wireless, and it costs $69 each, which adds almost $200 to the price tag. You should try MX duo you might like it, no wonder I see more and more people using them on Macs.
