I have an LCD and a CRT. I use the LCD as the span monitor. The colors are quite different. I recommend using it as a second monitor.
I bought mine a few months back when I ofund a deal at officedepot. It's a Mitsubishi Diamond NX86 18". It was $350 after online discount and rebate.
