TV Reporter: And we're back now at the top of the hour with a scientist, who says we can go to the moon, although we're not sure if it's always there, and a critic, who thinks the whole plan is full of, as he says it "junk science". Let's talk with them. Mr. Scientist, people say that the moon disappears every month, is this true?
Scientist: Look, I'm not quite sure where this whole idea of the moon "disappearing" idea got started, but we've known for centuries now that the moon doesn't disappear, but rather travels through the Earth's shadow. That's just basic science taught to grammar school children...
Reporter (interjecting): So you're on one side of the issue then...
Scientist: It's not a "side", it's a fact. We have data and observation to back that position.
Reporter: So that's what you believe...
Scientist: No, it's science, it's not belief you see...
Political Operative (interjecting): That's the scientists belief you're hearing. Now we can all observe that the moon disappears in plain sight everymonth, we don't need a fancy degree to tell us this.
Reporter: That's our critic with his response, SO it's your contention that going to the moon on a mission of scientific inquiry is a waste of time?
Political Operative: And money! Yes. Of course. Are we going to hold all of scientific research hostage and in poverty by giving all this money to these few crackpot scientists who want to bilk the taxpayer but sending people to nowhere?
Scientist: The moon doesn't go anywhere, all you have to do is look at the data and...
Reporter: Our critic has said that the scientists are themselves not consistent in their moon views, what do you mean by this?
Political Operative: I'm glad you mentioned that. I mean at one time scientists thought there were oceans on the moon. That was a so-called "theory". I mean we call them "mares" on the moon today. And now this fellow is saying we can go there, even though it disappears and has oceans?
Scientist: Oh for crying out..look we thought there were "mares" or seas on the moon in the early 19th century...
Poltical Operative: But they were scientists doing science! Or are you saying that wasn't a scientific mainstream idea?
Scientist: It was 19th century science! That was over a hundred years ago when there were only a few people looking at the moon in scientific detail with primitive equipment, you can't relate what was thought then to what we're observing now. We now have thousands of scientists using state of the art equipment to study this...
Political Operative: Exactly my point. You see all this "moon science" is an industry. You just heard it, not all that long ago, scientists doing "science" thought there was actual seas on the moon, and now, after we've funded all these scietists, screated a "moon science industry" they have all new theories that only promote their scientist agenda. It's self-perpetuating. The taxpayer wants to know when does it end...
Scientist: Oh for BLEEP BLEEP sake...
Reporter: There you have it, our balanced look at the state of the Moon Science Agenda.
