Yeah...I'm not saying I hate all that is out right now. I really like Jneiro Jarel's productions for instance.
Maybe part of this is the internet becoming widespread and making piracy easier...more serious artists see their sales drop while the cheesier one off pop songs that sell on iTunes to a mass audience rise to the top.
You can't make it anymore unless you are selling to the absolute lowest common denominator across multiple countries.
