    As much as I have quite libertarian views, I think a form of government is always necessary.

    People don't realize one thing though: any kind of government is a form of oppression. It is an occupant. It is a parasite you cannot really live without, but it's not your friend.
    It's easy to be caught off guard. You think that if you voted for someone, they're on your side.

    They are on their own side.

    That's why you have to watch them. That's why there is a system of checks in place, ie. constitution, which is relatively hard to amend – to keep the government in check and prevent it from its natural tendency to grab more power (and money).

    To check if the government is your friend, perform a simple, yet definite test:

    Ask yourself: does your government play golf with you?
    If the answer is "yes", the government is your friend.
    Otherwise, it is someone else's friend (see who they play golf with).
