Also, I can try to dig up some case studies for this sort of stuff.
The case studies I've read are mainly attempting to isolate the effects of a design change (changing up the packaging of a product, for instance) on sales, while also accounting for seasonal variation, competition, pricing, promotion, and all the other variables that affect sales. So they could pin-point the real effect the design change had.
