I was initially quite disappointed - it's very much a console-level FPS, and considering how hot it's making my graphics card go, it's not a patch on Crysis visually. The game mechanics and level progression are also very console - sometimes I didn't have a clue what was going on, but appeared to be progressing along the story rails all the same.
That said, I was playing it solidly from when I downloaded it at 1am 'til about 7am when I literally couldn't keep my eyes open any longer from mental fatigue and, I'll admit it, one cider too many.
It's a fun game.
As for the airport scene - in narrative terms, it was completely wasted and entirely incongruous. One minute you're a good guy, the next you're dropped into that situation and expected to completely 180? I'd've thought it a fucking coup had they put that scene toward the end of the game and built up to it logically. As it stands, it felt excessive and gratuitous and entirely unjustifiable.
Still though, good fun capping entirely innocent bystanders as they lie writhing on the floor, begging for mercy...
I'll need to get my keys sorted out before playing multiplayer - too many times I spacked out and dropped my own grenade at my feet whilst trying to throw someone else's back at them.
