Billy Corgan is a strange guy, but he's easily been one of the most inspiring American musicians to me as long as I've been playing guitar. What I wouldn't give to hang out with that guy and make music. In fact I remember in college I was going to make a video for MTV and that show they had where you got to meet your "idols" or something.
He is a complete badass at playing guitar, and while you might not like any or all of his music, most Smashing Pumpkins songs are just amazing, beautiful, impacting songs unlike anything anyone was doing at the time or since. No denying they were easily one of the best of the huge 90s bands and frankly they've always been better than Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, and all the other big ones from around then.
