Another connection with GTA: San Andreas that i had forgotten is with the book. Way of the Peaceful Warrior. i was reading it in the same time period that i was playing the game. Weird correlations emerged.
In "Way.." a young college athlete happens upon this old wise hippie-type who operates a gas station at night. This is set in San Francisco.
In GTA, you meet a old hippie and eventually set up shop at a gas station. THis gas station is set in the game equivalent of SF.
