I agree with WLN - to a point.
Moreover - it's diluting your pitch/product. Where's the value add potential in your service. £500 for providing a name!!?!! Who would the client turn to if things went sour with the freelancer? You do it for long enough, you run out of freelancers and/or clients who need to pay.
The margin on freelancers/exists because as the agent you manage issues on behalf of the client, and take a certain amount of the liability for that person. And I know people moan on here about agents taking a cut - but apart from a few wankers in the industry it's not the case. The margin goes on top of what the market rate is - and hiring managers know that and budget accordingly.
To expand on WLN's idea - £350 is far too low for that type of service.
A good idea - if QBN/Krop is listening - would be to develop a freelanceer database as part of the job board above, and charge a fee for the password to search for whatever you're after. Whether that be weekly/monthly/yearly subscriptions, depending on how many you will need.
Then all you QBNers could register. Including a link to your wonderful work with a breakdown of your skills.
Job done - no more pesky agencies! ;)
- umm.. don't they already do that?raskolnikov
- With respect, I'd like to think I provide more than "a name" - it not just a case of bunging any old designer into any role.
Re: the running out of freelancers/clients, it's not the main revenue stream, more about providing a good service really + I figured there's a certain degree of churn with freelancers too.character1
