Yes, I'm a designer, but I use to code stuff for myself and sometimes for others. I learned quite a bit AS2 but when AS3 came I just gave up on working with Flash.
Is HYPE good for me? Maybe...but I don't see myself using HYPE for a client's project, just for my personal projects I guess...
But I like the idea of Flash frameworks!
Processing is another thing...
