Overall I dig it. It'd be cool if that ladder graphic stayed there, even when you scrolled down.
Nitpicks:
Fuzzy/bad quality seach buttonFuzzy/bad quality ladder graphic
The wrap-around style "read on" bar is a little overdone in my opinion. Maybe just have a simple full color bar or at the very least, decrease the angle of the darker back piece.
The arrow in the "read more" bar is bad quality and the gradient doesn't seem to fit the nice flatness that you have everywhere else.
Rollovers would be nice on the images in the right column. Maybe a thick white border around the image?
The whole footer/pagination area seems pretty jumbled and cluttered.
