If it's intended to be a logo, develop it like a logo. Do the basics: Start with black on white, reduce it to the size of a dime, place it on composite concepts (a truck, a shirt, a box, etc.) and see if it holds up.
Then test it somewhere else, where you'll get honest feedback instead of a bunch of juvenile comments and bullying photoshop hackery.
