    I haven't read through this thread so sorry if this is a repeat. My macbook pro is just back from the Apple store with exactly the same problem. You'll no doubt need to have the logic board replaced. If you don't have Apple care make sure you get in writing that this is what's wrong as they are honoring this particular repair for nowt, as it's a recurring problem with Macbook Pros of a certain age (mine was bought in Oct 2007).

    Be prepared for a wait though - took me 22 days and a personal 'kick up the arse' trip into the Apple store to get mine back. I am currently in the middle of the hellish apple complaints procedure trying to get a nice bit of compensation for the terrible customer service.
