Have you thought about sculpture?
I understand your need for physicality in your creative work. I often tire of working in a screen based medium day in/out as well. It's important to make time for those outside projects that are less graphic design related that what you do for work... whatever it may be. I get really happy when I put together some crappy assemblage art, take a couple photos of it, and then throw it away. It's more about the process for me.- +1********
