Why not just get a cheap hosted server somewhere like site5.com? Site5.com is $5 a month for UNLIMITED disk space. FTP ur shit up there on a regular basis AND have an external backup drive that does it automatically for you (like WD or Apple). Use an FTP client like FireFTP, free for Firefox, to upload to the server. If you have REALLY important stuff, burn it to disc and put it in a fireproof safe.

Dropbox is good b/c you can drop some shit in a folder and you can access it somewhere else just as easily. It's like having one central location for your files. It's two steps easier than just using FTP but it also costs a hell of a lot more. You might not necessarily need this functionality.

FYI, I just backed up a TB a month ago and it took forever and a day (probably over a week) and I have a pretty fast cable connection.
