  Oh god, yes the moon is full of fucking minerals. but if we put people there, from any government or corporation or part of any "vast conspiracy" you need water.

  Furthermore, there still isn't an affordable launch solution that would pay for the costs involved of mining the moon. Hopefully the space elevator concept can get working. Also, space based solar energy is also a really interesting application of near space science that's within the relams of current engineering.
