Electric staple gun is a must. Nothing too heavy duty, but it will save your hands. Go to a leather shop and buy a full hide of top grain leather in the color you want. I got one on sale for under $200 (make sure its more than big enough for all pieces and left over for piping). Take apart the old one and use the old pieces as a template. The only tough part is the piping and buttons. I got the piping done by taking a scrap chunk of leather from the hide to an upholsterer and had him sew it onto some chord for a bottle of wine. Then the buttons. Buy some ultra thin glove leather that matches the hide you bought, the leather shop had a bin of chunks. I got one for $5. Once I found some heavy upholstery buttons I glued the glove leather on, stretched it over and they snapped together (regular leather is way too thick for this).
