May I put a "homegrown scientist" hat on?
Funny that from an unattached observer's perspective those are all first world problems. In the third world (and in 1st world a century or three ago) 13 year olds get married on a daily basis, often to men over 20, just like it went on for millenia.
As a civilized man I sense it is right not to allow it and protect the childhood - it is an obvious cultural achievement.
But (still wearing an observer's hat) perhaps we're doing something wrong to the human nature? I'm not saying that I'd prefer teen marriages to be more common or socially allowed/accepted, but who knows, maybe it's us who will be proved wrong by evolution in the end?
I'm sure there are more things that we think are right for the society and actually destroy it, they're even less clear-cut than child protection on which there is a general agreement.I am not voicing an opinion here, just throwing questions in the air.

- I agree. It's a moral panick, but people are generally OK with sexualised 13 year oldsKhurram
- eg the "grooming" debate. They make out the teens to be "brain-washed" when attraction is nearly always mutualKhurram
- don't have kids. problem solved. too much rubbish crawling on the planet anywayfreitag
